Reminder!

Field trip tomorrow! Please send your child in with a lunch from home.  We will not be back to school in time for students to buy lunch from the cafeteria.

There's snow place like home!

I hope you all had a nice weekend and enjoyed the snow.  Sometimes, there's nothing better than being home, watching the snow fall.

Personal Narrative Writing Unit

We have begun to learn about Personal Narratives.  We have listened to a number of personal narratives (I think Enemy Pie is the favorite) and will be writing our own personal narratives soon.  To get our brains in the personal narrative zone, we drew a picture about a special memory we had, and told a partner all about that memory.  The stories had lots of great details.

Persuasive Posters

We ended our Persuasive Writing unit by creating a Vote for Me poster.  Students gave reasons why they should be president of the United States.  The posters are hanging in our classroom. They came out great!

Music Showcase

The 1st grade Winter Showcase is Wednesday, December 21st at 1:30 pm.  The students are very excited! IMPORTANT NOTE:  If you plan to dismiss your child after the showcase is over, you MUST send your child in with a note that morning.  Thank you for your help with this.

Worry Bullies

Ms. Martin came in and taught us about Worry Bullies.  These imaginary creatures stand on our shoulder and tell us to worry.  They are mean, and we learned phrases to say to them to make them go away.  Ms. Martin also introduced us to a worry eater named Flint.  We wrote down our worries and Flint ate them up!
